David and Goliath Mate

Pattern # 82 This technique is explained in ebook Fundamental Chess patterns, enhanced edition

The David and Goliath mate or the pawn mate is a medium common method of checkmating.
A pawn is the final attacking piece, but the mate can take many forms, so there is not a single pattern to remember.
But when the King is in a corner, surrounded by his own pieces, the mate is astonishing and spectacular. See: Bird, Lapaget, Powers, Dubois, Greco, Erkel
